The Pain before the Promise!

Hey there!!!!!

Today I want to talk to you about the promises of God. Some of you may already realize that many of us were taught that as long as you believed in Jesus, went to church, paid your tithes and lived a good life, you would be blessed and receive all God has for you. That is so far from the truth. Many of God’s promises come with conditions. We too have a part to play in the big picture leading to the manifestation.

When God speaks, or entrusts someone to speak for Him, the prophecy is only a part of the bigger picture. God declares the end from the beginning. When you first receive a word or promise from God, you’re being told of the outcome. What’s going to happen in the end. What is going to come to pass. Too often, we get that word and run with it. I’m speaking of myself as well. When God told me that my marriage would be a testament of His grace and His glory, I gave Him a yes to use it. That is when He told me that my assignment would be to write a book. That was my first book, Pray And Obey.” In my lack of understanding, I assumed that after writing that book, I would have all the promises of God. I thought that was my entry ticket into the Promised Land. Boy, did I have so much learning to do.

The moment I gave God my Yes, everything seemed to fall apart and get turned upside down. I said maybe I didn’t hear from Him. Maybe I made all of this up. There’s no way I could have what He spoke if my life and marriage seemed to take a turn for the worse. Talk about trial after trial. Pain after pain. Disappointment after disappointment. It was one thing after another. I thought to myself, if it’s gonna take all of this, I don’t even want what God promised me. I didn’t understand that when He speaks, we are only shown a part of what’s in store. If God showed us the entire picture of the plans He has for our lives, including the pain and heartache, how many would still say Yes knowing all they would have to endure before the celebration?

This is why we go from faith to faith. It not only builds our relationship with God, but it brings the best versions of ourselves to the surface. We would never know how strong we truly are unless we are put in situations that tested our endurance. We would never know how patient we could be unless life tested our patience with situations beyond our control. There is no way to have a testimony without being tested. Let me say this……expect to endure pain! Expect to suffer for Christ. They weren’t exempt from it in the Bible and neither are we. It won’t always be pain and suffering but there is a backside to every blessing. This not only strengthens us but equips us for the battles ahead. Once you receive the victory and promises in your life, you are not so easily shaken when the next trial comes your way.

If God said it, then it has to come to pass. Don’t allow the in between process to deter you from standing flat footed in your storm. We do this by spending time in His presence and reading His word. Connecting with other believers is necessary as well. It’s always good to hear someone who has been through what you’re currently enduring and seeing that God brought them out. These are the things that will lift our spirits until the time of manifestation. It also allows you to speak from a place of pain and experience to someone coming behind you going through the same thing. How could we encourage one another if someone doesn’t get to the other side to tell us the promises of God are real? When He blesses you, it’s not just for you. It’s for those around you. Those coming after you.

God is trusting you with a temporary problem to bless you in a way that won’t compare to the joy that’s in store. Endure your momentary afflictions. The goal is to not only have better, but to become better. You’ll thank yourself for it in the end. You’ll thank God that He did it His way instead of your own. There are others counting on you coming out. They are counting on you enduring until the end. Your testimony will be the key that will set them free from their prisons. God just trusted you to go first. I know it may seem hard and not fair. I know because these are the complaints that I petitioned to God along the way. But as I endured and shared the experience of my sufferings, others were strengthened in theirs. This is what glorifies God and brings others to God. You may be the one to bridge the gap in your family of unbelievers. You may be the one chosen to break the generational curses that were passed down to you. God may be calling you to fight a giant so that you children will never have to. We all have a responsibility and role to play in the Kingdom. Don’t allow someone else to suffer longer than they have to because you didn’t trust God to get you through yours first.

There will be pain. But that will never stop the manifestation of the promise. God is faithful to do exactly what He promised you. Can He trust you with the pain before the blessing? Someone is rooting for you!
